What We Do

PROJECT CONTROL OF FAUNA STREET RURAL AND BORDER ZONES

We are a Foundation that collaborates with the animals that roam the streets of the Dominican Republic. Our Foundation that started its work many years ago, has managed to help hundreds of animals dogs, cats, farm animals etc. Who are mistreated, abandoned in the metropolitan area of Santo Domingo and in the country’s countryside.

Mi Mascota Foundation, has created a precedent castrating and vaccinating hundreds of animals totally FREE, and to be able to continue with our work and help to people of few resources as well as animals that do not have owner who have a better quality of life we need your support To reach places where NEVER has arrived or vaccines, nor care much less a veterinarian.

This country that does not have the help and support to educate about the mistreatment towards the life of the animals, nor does it count on the support of shelters and public places that at low cost vaccinate, sterilize etc. and give veterinary service to the animals. Most of the population are poor people, who do not have the economic possibility and the facility to visit a veterinarian, since most of them have their veterinary clinics in the cities with the highest purchasing power. Existing veterinary clinics have prices that the poor can not afford.

A study done by several people who love animals shows that the population with scarce resources or with less economic possibilities has more animals than the ones with the best possibilities, so that these animals reproduce indiscriminately, resulting in The rural places with a high population of animals, that die of malnutrition, diseases, run over, of childbirth, etc.

For every 3 households of low-income people, there are 15 large dogs that are twice a year, more than 6 puppies at a time, which are abandoned, given away to an irresponsible owner or with few resources that would allow Continue to reproduce indiscriminately, overpopulated the area.

With their support we can successfully vaccinate, cleanse, castrate and sterilize hundreds of dogs, cats and other species in places where the veterinary medicine does not reach, helping to control the street fauna, the reproduction of animals that are mistreated, abandoned and run over.

In the Dominican Republic there is no OFFICIAL or GOVERNMENTAL program similar to our work for the animals that roam the streets as well as those living in rural places and owners with scarce resources.

If we sterilize in a single area of a rural place 6 bitches, we would be preventing 36 dogs from being abandoned in the streets, in addition we would be talking about that we would avoid that approximately 216 puppies are mistreated, and procreating without control during a single year.

Education and orientation are paramount factors in the Dominican population, so our projects are always accompanied by educational talks and oratorias for education and information about the dignity and rights of life of animals, where the owner understands the importance of Care, respect, sterilize and vaccinate their animals and that they do not breed indiscriminately.

The Border Zone has one of the biggest problems of animal overpopulation, those animals carry deadly diseases such as RABIA and LEPTOSPIROSIS, which are transmitted to humans, in addition to DISTEMPER and PARVOVIRUS that are responsible for the death of a hundred animals . In the area of Animal Protection, this area is ‘no man’s land’ and its inhabitants lack the resources to watch over their own needs, much less they can take care of the needs of domestic animals. That is where we have one of the greatest challenges to help as an animal protection foundation.

To be able to perform more Operations and cover the expenses of veterinarians, medicines, surgical material, accommodation, transportation such as car rental, purchase of a van, as well as importation of tests, acquisition of vaccines, vitamins and food, to To be able to immerse ourselves in mass campaigns for each people, we need massive financial support!
